Feedback from WALS2020 Online

Many thanks to the 55 respondents who completed the WALS 2020 online conference survey. Those taking part represented 24 countries with 13 from the conference time zone 1, and 21 each from zones 2 and 3. 29% of respondents were teachers and 29% researchers with a spread of experience of LS.

The survey has provided very important and helpful information to help plan for future conferences and it is summarised below.

THEMES

73% felt that the conference met the aim of focussing on the use of LS to promote equity in education.
76% felt that the conference met the aim of focussing on online approaches to LS.


THE PRESENTATIONS

87% felt that the presentations were strong or very strong.
91% felt that the range of subjects and choice of presentations was strong or very strong.


THE WALS WEBSITE, PAPER SUBMISSION & RECORDING

91% felt the website was very easy to navigate
80% felt it was easy or very easy to submit papers.
5% felt it was complicated.
58% thought it was easy or very easy to record presentations but 15% felt it was complicated


LIVE Q & A

75% felt it was easy or very easy to join live Q and A sessions.




VALUE FOR MONEY

87% felt that the cost of the conference which included membership of WALS for one year was good or very good (75%) value for money.



FUTURE CONFERENCES

71% said they would be likely or very likely to attend a future conference which was face to face only.
87% would attend a future conference which was a blend of face to face and online (by attending if possible).
86% would attend a blend of face to face and online which had online access only.

I could feel the team spirit and kindness of all the participants involved

The opportunity to watch the video again helped me to understand the research

It was like having 3 conferences and I had access to all of them!

The fact that there were so many presentations and variety made this an exceptional event and learning opportunity.

I loved the opportunity to connect with lesson study experts in a way which never would have been possible in a face-to-face setting, as I would not have been able to afford to travel abroad to attend.
